Ethel Women Initiative was birthed on the 27th of March, 2015 in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
We started with the name ECCENTRIC WOMAN, (which means unique woman) in 2015 and went on for a period of one year, before officially launching the organization on March 27, 2016, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. In 2017, we registered the organization with the name
ETHEL WOMEN INITIATIVE, because the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) did not approve the name Eccentric woman due to its controversial meaning (eccentric also means weird, strange, etc.). Eccentric woman, now Ethel women initiative have done so much over the few years we started as an NGO, we have empowered over 500 women within Edo state and have gone to over 20 schools enlightening our young girls on the importance of living a worthy life as a woman.
